The Rupt de Bâmont hydraulic site has existed since 1789. First a mill, it was transformed into a sawmill in 1817. The masterpiece of "applied mechanics" to the sawmill and to the "Haut-Fer" demonstrates the ingenuity of the olders. The "Haut-Fer" is still in good working order. In its museography, the Musée du Bois brings together many period tools and old machines. The “essential piece” of the exhibition is the “Haut-Fer”, a saw with a vertical blade. The "Haut-Fer" is in perfect working order, it is driven by the force of the water, "Sawmill on the water". You will find all the information on this "Haut-Fer" under the heading "Heritage". During your visit, you will be able to confirm this initial information.
The Association for the Protection and Restoration of Heritage has undertaken a vast project on various remarkable sites of Saulxuron Heritage. The "Wood Museum" is the starting point and the shining example of a successful restoration. The heritage of Saulxures is very rich. Among others we can cite the “Saint-Prix” Church dating from 1883 and restored in 2006, the “Jacquot-Jeanpierre” Organ, great organ builders of Rambervilliers, dating from 1869 and restored in 2017. The restorations of the 'Church and Organ were carried out by the commune of Saulxures. Let’s not forget the "Crosses of the Way" which constitute yet another beautiful page of history.
The Wood Museum, "House of the forest and wood of the Vosges", is a space for woodworking and heritage devoted to wood. It is located in the town of Saulxures-sur-Moselotte located in Lorraine, in the Vosges department and the Grand Est region.
